Its most solid citizens are Hugh Pepperdine, former army scout, mule skinner, and peace officer, now local saddle maker, and James McGregor, the gunsmith with the bullheaded set to his jaw. Together this odd trio make up the wildest bunch in all New Mexico. DEFENDERS OF THE LAW The notorious Hy Simpson gang travels south, raiding banks along the way. It so happens that the Sheridan Bank & Trust Company lies smack in their path. But between this tempting target and the safety of the Mexican border stands the foursquare team of Fogarty, Pepperdine, and McGregor. And not even a hot rain of lead can make them budge. |
