Summary, etc The ruins of the seventeenth- and eighteenth-century mission churches at the abandoned pueblo of Pecos, in northern New Mexico, have attracted the attention of travelers and scholars for over a century. Surface remains indicated that there had been at least two churches at the pueblo, and evidence of a third church was discovered through archival research in 1956. Not until 1967 did archaeologists discover that there had been four churches at Pecos.--Cover
