Donated to the library by Walter Porier and Marjorie Leason after Mrs. Rand’s death in 1981
Kathleen L. Rand was born on September 25, 1903 in Raton, New Mexico. In 1904 her family moved to the Spring Creek Ranch near Morley, Colorado, where they operated on of the largest cattle ranches. Following graduation from Trinidad High School she attended the Colorado Women’s College in Denver and studied at the Art Students League in New York. She Taught art at rice School in Trinidad, Arizona, and New Mexico retiring from the Raton Public School system in 1969. Her paintings are in private collections throughout the country and she was prominent in the Trinidad Art League. She passed away on October 25, 1981 in Trinidad, Colorado.
