Odon Hullenkremer was born on June 1, 1888 in Budapest, Hungary. He was a self-taught artist and entered his first painting at age 15 to a competition in Budapest taking first prize. He was praised by the Hungarian Royal Court to Emperor Franz Josef I and told he would be a great painter someday. He took courses at the University of Toledo where he added psychology and social science to his version of art. He moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1933 which was only meant to be a visit but he stayed 43 years. He passed away on January 26, 1978 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
