Everyone said that the big buckskin colt was a hopeless outlaw. Everyone, that is except Jim Carney, who sensed that all the proud, defiant horse needed was a gentle hand, a soft voice and a lot of patience. Born wild, Buckskin knew life on the plains was hard and dangerous. Yet the open plains were better than the branding iron or the jerk of a rope. That is, until Jim won him. But wolves swept down from the plains and Bucksin was forced to run for his life just as he began to respond to Jim's gentle ways. Caught by a notorious horse theif, Buckskin would have starved but for two who dared to save him and return him to Jim.
