Over the ages it has been the practice for the ruling class, the elite, the "Establishment." to write a country's primary record. Although, centuries later, histories may be reanalyzed by thinkers from foreign lands with different viewpoints, or even by nonconforming groups within a nation's own framework, it is, first of all, the clique on top who make the laws and control the schools, who formulate the story line and and decide what shall be taught. In this way a country's image is built. Much of the population has little standing except for a lightly considered statistical importance.
