Never, Never Ask His Name ; A Little Night Music ; The Weekend That Was
Never, Never Ask His Name is a period peive whos action revolves around a ballad sung by a mad New England girl; the time is 1840, and the mystery has to do with a murder committed ten years before.
The other two plays are comedies of comtemporary life, each, however, serious at the center, as Mr. Van Doren thinks comedy can afford to be, or perhaps had better be. Mona, teh herione of A Little Night Music, is a passionate and powerful woman who refuses the tragic role which others assume to be proper for her. The central figure of The Weekend That Was is Mike Warlock, an angry young man who enjoys being what he is.
