Ten years after leaving home to find his future in the West, Gordon Hawkes risks going back east to pick up a package his mother left him. Attacked by a posse looking to collect the bounty on his head, Hawkes hides out among Mormons and agrees to guide them to their own promised land.
The Mormons led by Brigham Young are on the run, too—from persecution for their way of life. Thousands of settlers have trekked westward before them and much of the good land has been taken.
