In 1880, Billy the Kid was branded as an outlaw and was chased by Sheriff Pat Garrett all over the New Mexico Territory and was finally killed by the sheriff in Ft. Sumner. Some historians believe that the body buried in that grave is not the body of Billy the Kid.
