Sheriff Bob Hoy wondered about riders he saw to the north of him, but he had an important visit to make, so he took less notice of the men that he ought to have done. He was to regret his lack of concern, as the Mooseville bank was robbed that morning - his foster parents lay murdered, and John Corker, the bank manager, had been killed.
