Grandfather Joseph Clouthier, son of Jean-Baptiste Couthier and Rose Simard, was born in Chateau-Richer in 1810 and died in Sabrevois, buried in St. Georges Henryville in 1863. He was a farmer. He had first married in Quebec Naphlete Renaudet, who bore him 6 children, 4 boys and 2 girls. This one died in St. Jean Iberville, where the family had emigrated around 1840, and Joseph Clouthier then married Emilie Roy, a young girl of 18, from Sabrevois, as a second marriage, who gave him 10 more children, 6 boys and 4 girls. After his second marriage, he took a piece of woodland in the Richelieu valley, cleared it and raised his family there until his death following an accident in 1863. He is buried with his wife to the right of Henryville church. He was a handsome, jovial, sympathetic man with an endearing personality, said grandfather Francois Lafond, who had known him well. This photo must have been taken in 1860.
Born 1820, died 1863.
