Deborah Lucero, grandmother of co-author and illustrator Siana Lucero, was born and raised in Raton. Her parents were Joe and Sadie Acevedo. She graduated from Raton High School in 1990. She married, raised two sons in Raton and now resides in Gilbert, Arizona.
